Riverside Café beats Winter Chill
The winter chill is no match for Riverside Café.
The town basin based café now boasts brand new gas fires inside and out as well as cosy blankets to curl up in with a coffee.
Owner Justin Le Cheminant says the café is typically frequented in summer because of the atmosphere.
“So it was really important to us to replicate that atmosphere now that the cold weather has set in,” he says.
The café is best known for the views over Whangarei’s town basin, a popular spot to people-watch or stop after a walk around the Hatea Loop.
It’s not just the looks that have changed, the specials board has had a winter revamp.
Head Chef Devon, has created some daily specials that include soups, casseroles, curries and pastas. These are all made on the premises to complement the home-made cakes, savouries and pastries that the café is renowned for.
While the weather outside is frightful, the atmosphere, welcome, coffee and food are delightful is a topical misquote that really applies at Riverside!
With new specials on the board, amazing award-winning Chiasso coffees and mochas, and a warm, friendly welcome- there’s no better space to frequent this winter.
