Food and crafts at Parua Bay fair
Over 100 stalls of craft and food will fill the Parua Bay Community Centre this weekend when the Parua Bay Arts, Craft & Food kicks off.
The show, now in its 13th year, will run at the Parua Bay Community Centre on the Queen’s Birthday Monday, June 4 – from 9am to 3pm.
The event is being organised by Parua Bay resident, Jodie Hannam of Northland Events, who has helped run the event for a number of years.
“This event is one of the largest annual events for the Northland arts and craft community,” she says.
“It is probably the largest community event of the year in the Whangarei Heads which, with the Easter Art’s Trail as well, has become an area synonymous with talented artistic people.”
Food will be provided by food stalls, from handmade Italian pizzas from Solo Pizza and doughnuts from Mister Baker to handmade patisseries from Frenchy’s Kitchen.
“We also have Hungarian, Asian, Mexican, Churros, Paella and more,” says Jodie.
She says the local school will also be raising money for some students’ trips and events.
“There will be over 100 stalls of unique handmade products and foods – from handcrafted wooden pens to greenstone carving to stunning pieces of garden art to clothes, toys and more.
The family event has a heap of activities for children too, with bouncy castles, a jousting ring and merry-go-round, as well as miniature cars, a petting zoo, Segways and pony rides.
Trail Drop Whangarei will also operate a shuttle bus service from Whangarei.
