Massey lecturer shares stories of great airmen
A senior Massey University lecturer will be giving a talk at The Kauri Museum at Matakohe, based on the research of his book Fearless – the extraordinary untold story of New Zealand’s Great War Airmen.
Dr Adam Claasen’s talk runs from 1pm to 4pm on Saturday 21 at the museum in Matakohe, as part of the WW100: Remembering WW1 – 100 Years On initiative.
His book was developed as part of the First World War Centenary History Programme and was the first book ever to be written on the contribution of New Zealand’s airmen to military aviation in WWI.
The book features photos and also personal stories from letters and diaries of men during war times, including a local airman from Matakohe whose family home is just down the road from the museum.
To register for the event, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call the museum at 09 4317417. Admission is just $5.
